Coventry Republicans Part 2

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

It’s been two weeks since my last rant about the Internet “savy” of our local republican party. I’m now Google search result number 5 for “coventry republicans”, and working my way to number one… one carefully placed word at a time.

Two weeks, and the Coventry Republicans web site is still MIA. But, hey, they’ve got a “web guy”.  I’d happily take any feeback someone would like to leave about the Coventry Republican party. You should easily be able to find these posts by now. Unfortunately there is no contact page for me from this site - you won’t find a nice email link to submit to spam lists either. You’ll have to register and leave a comment. For some of you reading that may sound like a daunting and difficult task. If so, oh well, I’ve become an Internet elitist.

This is honestly becoming an interesting study in search engine optimization. Truly content is king. The Coventry Republican committee has no content. I do. With regular updates and posts in this ludicrous series of articles I’ll soon work my way to the top of the listings. First Coventry Republicans, then Rhode Island Republicans.

The quandary is that this all takes time. Content takes time. If you’re one of my clients, please take note. One post every other week, a couple hundred words in a 15 minute commitment, and you will soon be on your way to the top of the rankings. Some think it’s just too simple. Sure, search engine optimization is more than that, but for easy niche terms like “Coventry Republicans” it’s pretty easy and not a big commitment.

Land Needed

Monday, November 19th, 2007

We’re looking for land to wheel with Ocean State Jeepsters. If you know anyone in the greater Rhode Island area (eastern Connecticut, Southeastern Mass) let us know. We’re eager to trade work for wheeling. We can remove trash, clear roads, and other property maintenance projects.

Here’s a little promotional poster - land-poster.pdf.

Why Rhode Island Republicans will never gain control of the Web

Friday, November 16th, 2007

My wife went to a meeting last night with town Republicans. As an aside I will let you know, gentle reader, that this post will be littered with Rhode Island, Republican, Kent County, and Coventry. Why? I’m making a point. There is and has never been, and if the course continues, will never be any sort of legitimate presence on the Internet by Republicans in Coventry, or Rhode Island as a whole.

They’ve got a “web guy”. Someone commented about “it’s nice to see young people involved” when my wife walked through the door. Did I mention the Coventry Republican’s web site is down? But they’ve got a “web guy”.

Lets talk Rhode Island Internet user demographics. The higher the education, the greater percentage are online. The higher the household income, the greater percentage are online. Small business owners? Online. Affluent soccer moms? Online.

We bought a house in Coventry knowing that they have one of the highest tax rates in the state. Knowing that the town government was in shambles. Knowing that the fiscal irresponsibility is rampant. Why then did we move to Coventry? Because the schools are good, and I don’t want to learn spanish, and I don’t have the resources or capacity to home school my son.

So, we moved to Coventry. The town that just hired 3 crossing guards for a suburban school that potentially has a dozen students who walk home after. That’s fiscal sanity.

So for any of you who’ve ended here because you’ve Googled “Coventry Republicans”. My apologies. But my point is made. With a little common sense and effort the Republican party could embrace the fastest growing conservative demographics. But as conservatives change is apparently slow.

Break out the teletype machine… you’ll need it for the next round of Republican press releases.
